Sarah's Journey

Meet the Founder
Sarah Dresser
M.H. C.Cht
Welcome! I've worked for over a decade now full time as a Clinical Hypnotherapist. But the journey to create Think Yourself Slim began 20 years ago, back in 2004.
It started on my 30th birthday with a realization and the very first step to a real solution.

How It All Began
My 30th birthday was a milestone event, but not for the reasons you may think. In that moment back in May 2004, I realized that I had spent more than half my life dieting, and over time, this has become an illness, leading me to self-starvation.
On a day when I should have been celebrating, I felt defeated.
THE DIET TRAP
Two Decades of Diets and Eating Disorders
My first diet was before the age of 10, and like many, I spent most of my teens and 20s on diets
Over time, food and weight became the central focus of my life, and even affected my social life. I would make excuses to avoid going out to avoid food. The more I tried to count and measure and control, the more I felt out of control. The less I ate, the more my obsession grew.
After nearly two decades of diets and eating disorders, instead of more self-judgement and blame, I took a step back.
And in that moment I realized that diets just don't work. And more than that, I could finally see how the years of dieting had created a mindset that kept me trapped.
But if diets didn't work, what did?

NO MORE COUNTING OR MEASURING
My First Step to Real Change
On my 30th birthday, instead of journaling calories eaten, I wrote down the first commitment to myself; an agreement to stop counting and measuring.
I started the process with a mind still obsessed over certain types of food but, over time, I learned that as there were no rules, all foods were always available and so I could have them now, or later.
Something slowly started to change, in mindset, and in body. And over time, calm eating replaced a diet and deprivation mindset.

REBUILD WISDOM AND TRUST
Reconnect Mind and Body
Nothing existed at the time and nothing does exist quite like Think Yourself Slim. It was a process of years of trial and error through which I created my own methodology.
One of the key insights I learned was how much diets had disconnected me from my body. Instead of rules I learned to rebuild trust in myself.
Another key principle was to take both the emotion and moral judgement out of food. As I slowly healed from years of negative messaging, food became emotionally neutral.
Guidelines over Rules
After my first principle came more. No counting or measuring at first, then I removed all restrictions for myself on access to all food. To this day, in the fourth iteration of the Program, those same principles exist. There are no rules in the Think Yourself Slim Program, only guidelines.
Guidelines maintain freedom for the individual to do what they wish. There is no such thing as breaking the rules, no concept of a cheat day. No rules to break. And, as a result, no diet or deprivation mindset.

SARAH DRESSER, FOUNDER AND CREATOR
My Qualifications
2014 to 2015
Clinical Hypnotherapy Training
I completed my initial training 2014-2015 at the Pacific Institute of Advanced Hypnotherapy, accredited under the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Alberta. It is the only hypnotherapy training institute in North America which is accredited under a university. I am now qualified as a Hypnotist, Master Hypnotist and Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist.
Since I obtained my initial qualifications, I continue to further my education in psychology, neuroscience, and hypnotherapy every year.
10 Years of Development
Through my training I realized I could get results for clients in a matter of days or weeks, rather than my own journey of 10 years.
Evolving the Program with Clients
2015 to 2017
Program Trials
The first version of the Program launched back in January 2015. I trialled the Program with private clients over another 2 years in private practice. We are now on the fourth version of the Program.
With the power of hypnotherapy I could condense all my experience and training and work with clients to get results in days or weeks rather than years.

My Commitment to Program Success
2015 to 2026
Continuous Improvement
Based on regular client feedback, I continue to evolve and expand the support of the Program. The principles remain the same but I regularly develop new sessions and my own unique techniques.
The current version of the Program is the fourth iteration and took over a year of full time focus to complete. The Transformation Program is the most complete Program I've created to date.
